At Harrison Flagpoles, we understand that choosing the right flagpole for your home or business is an important decision. This guide will walk you through the different materials available for flagpoles. It will highlight their benefits and considerations, to guide you to make an informed choice.

Material options

The three most popular material choices for flagpoles are glassfibre, aluminium and stainless steel. Read more about each option below.

Glassfibre flagpoles

Glassfibre is cost-effective, hard-wearing and easy to maintain. It is capable of bending without breaking, making it resilient in high winds. It is resistant to corrosion, so is great for humid, wet or coastal areas. Our garden flagpoles and commercial poles, along with wall-mounted flagpoles are available in glassfibre.

Aluminium flagpoles

Aluminium flagpoles are durable, highly resistant to corrosion and rust, and lightweight. They are low maintenance, too. Our Superform architectural aluminium flagpoles are a standard heavy-duty, heat treated 6063 aluminium. It is available with either a self-colour, anodised or powder-coated white finish. It’s ideal for exposed locations such as castles, marinas and roof mountings on high rise buildings due to its corrosion resistance. Our garden flagpoles and wall-mounted flagpoles are also available in aluminium.

Stainless steel flagpoles

Steel is incredibly strong and can withstand extreme weather conditions, including high winds and storms. It is ideal for locations where vandalism or theft is a concern, due to its robust nature. With proper maintenance, steel can last for many years. Stainless steel flagpoles are beautiful to look at with a stain brush or mirror finish. Our stainless steel flagpoles are manufactured from seamless high-grade stainless steel. It is finished with a continual taper and a highly polished mirror, satin or painted finish. As a general rule, the smoother the finish, the better the corrosion resistance. These poles are designed to offer strength and rigidity in all climates, and can withstand windspeeds of 80mph.

Harrison Flagpoles has vast experience and knowledge in the provision of the best flagpoles. Architects from all over the world specify our flagpoles, and we’re proud to adorn a host of prestigious buildings and landmarks. Read more about our projects in the Case Study section of our website.
