Switch to Harrison Eco™ Flag, it’s kinder to the environment.
We know that plastic is a pollutant, this is an undeniable truth. Thankfully, there’s a growing awareness of this problem amongst suppliers and customers. As a leading UK flag supplier, we are using #PlasticFreeJuly as a platform to raise awareness of plastic pollution and to promote our sustainable product range, Harrison Eco™ and our Harrison Eco™ Flag material that transforms plastic otherwise destined for landfill into a sustainable option for your flags.
As global directives and environmental bodies such as Green Peace, Green Alliance and Friends of the Earth strive to make real change and reduce the use of single use plastics, consumers too are looking for plastic-free or recycled products.
Every year, 5,000,000 tonnes of plastic is consumed in the UK alone. That’s some shocking statistics, it quite hard to visually imagine.
It’s been some time coming, but change is happening and we welcome it with open arms, we have for some years, been all too aware of the environmental impact the printing industry has on the environment.
As an innovative company we are always looking at new solutions and better ways of doing things and so when it came to looking at our flag production, we were sure there had to be a more sustainable way of operating, that would also help customers reduce their impact on the environment too.
We were the first UK supplier to offer a range of eco-friendly flag material and products. We worked closely with a leading fabric manufacturer to develop Harrison Eco™ Flag, an environmentally friendly alternative to knitted polyester for our flags and feather flags.
This revolutionary material is made from recycled plastic items, such as single use PET plastic bottles, and industrial polyester waste. The waste is melted down into chips, then spun into yarn that is knitted to form a material. Harrison Eco™ Flag has the same durability, strength and versatility of it’s knitted polyester equivalent, but with a much lower environmental impact.
Unlike standard knitted polyester, that is used in the manufacture of most printed flags, our eco friendly flag material doesn’t require new petroleum for its creation. Therefore lowering the demand for petroleum extraction and reducing it’s overall carbon footprint. Producing the eco-friendly flag material is also better for the climate, creating 75% less CO₂ emissions than virgin polyester. It also meets the requirements for the OEKO-TEX® 100 standards and is free from toxic elements.
Harrison Eco™ Flag is part of the Harrison Eco™ range which includes environmentally friendly materials for flags, banners, POS, display and signage products.
We’re encouraging businesses to switch their flags to Harrison Eco™ Flag. Doing so will help minimise your impact on the environment, boost your eco credentials and contribute towards protecting the planet.
