There’s no doubt that Storm Henk, Isha and Jocelyn will have taken their toll on your flagpoles. With freak wind gusts reaching up to 107mph now is the time to check your flagpole. Regular maintenance and servicing are essential to keep your flags and flagpoles looking their best. We are here to help you with advice, replacement flags and accessories.
We recommend weekly, six monthly and yearly checks to keep your flagpole looking its best. Whilst some servicing should be undertaken by your in-house team regularly throughout the year, we recommend bringing in a specialist once per year to carry out a thorough inspection.
☑️ Carry out a visual check of the halyard for signs of wear or fraying. If necessary, replace the halyard by sewing the end of the new halyard to the end of the old halyard. Pull the new halyard through the top of the flagpole.
☑️ Check stability of flagpole(s) including operation of hinge bolt.
☑️ Check finial for stability, ease of rotation and damage to pulley groove
☑️ External halyard should be checked for wear
☑️ Check operation of Guardsman lock for internal halyard systems
☑️ Swivel arm systems to be checked for signs of wear of the rotating top
☑️ Wash down flagpole with warm water and detergent
☑️ Full service/inspection of the flagpole by a specialist should be carried out and a log/report (provided by the contractor) kept of the date and works completed.
