Outdoor branding is often seen as an effective tool for contractors and clients alike. It’s also widely known that branding can be relatively inexpensive, hence its popularity. Heras fence panels and scrim, hoarding boards and flags are all cost-effective solutions.

Harrison Flagpoles are seeing a growing number of businesses request greener, eco friendly solutions when it comes to branding their sites and the pressure continues to grow on contractors to evidence their green credentials and the steps they are taking to mitigate their environmental impact. Indeed, to even be considered during the tender process, sustainability stretches well beyond office recycling and paperless systems. Contractors are being scrutinised over their purchasing choices and supplier relationships with sustainable suppliers.

There’s also an element of a genuine desire for construction companies to do their part in reducing their carbon footprint. There is a real shift from box-ticking or ‘virtue signalling’ to a more authentic need to do what’s right by our planet.

Sustainability is a topic of growing importance and it was recently announced that leading contractors in the construction industry have pledged to tackle climate change. Almost 1,000 firms signed formal declarations which will result in ‘greener’ working practices. The commitments in this declaration are outlined in his article published by Construction News.

The housebuilding industry has also committed to reducing carbon emissions in their processes by 70-80% by 2025. The government set the Future Homes Standard to reduce or eliminate the need for fossil fuels and future proof housing with high levels of energy efficiency. The Future Homes Task Force is a sector-wide plan involving key organisations and influencers within the industry, including Barratt Developments and Homes England, that are committing to delivering a clear set of proposals around sustainability.
