With HM The King’s Coronation celebrations soon upon, us many businesses are looking at ways to celebrate. If your business is looking to fly the flag for HM King Charles III and the Coronation celebrations, here are our top tips to finding the right flagpole for your requirements.

Step 1: Choose your flagpole product

When it comes to selecting your flagpole, there’s a wide range to choose from. You can choose a bespoke or off-the-shelf solution for business flagpoles. As a guideline, the most commonly chosen product for a business premises is a six-metre glassfibre flagpole with a hinge base. And this suits a great deal of locations, however, if you’re based in highland or coastal areas, you’ll need an extra-strong flagpole to withstand the elements; for this we recommend our ultra-heavy-duty commercial glassfibre flagpole range.

Another solution is the wall-mounted banner pole which works well for retail and urban locations, where space is more limited. This is a popular option for city-centre hotels looking for flagpoles for their building exterior.

You may need a totally bespoke product if your business has more specific requirements. As an example, if your premises are in a listed or historic building, or if access restrictions limit installations, we can advise you.

Harrison Flagpoles is the UK’s only manufacturer of glassfibre flagpoles and the UK’s leading flagpole authority. Our specialist engineering team is here to help and can inspect your site to offer tips on materials, thickness, height, finish, finials and more.

Step 2: Pick your flag

Next up, you’ll need to pick your flag and getting the size right is imperative, you can find out more about choosing the right size for your flag in our handy flag buying guide.

From national and county flags to Pride flags and flags to celebrate the King’s Coronation, we offer a wide range of stock design options, and should you require a bespoke design, our talented design team can fulfil this for you.

Modern flags also have more options available than ever before when it comes to materials. Our standard choice for digitally printed flags is polyester – light, flexible and cost-effective. For a more durable, luxury finish, you may choose a handsewn flag, made and finished by our team of seamstresses here in the UK. For added durability you can add anti-fray netting to any of our printed or handsewn options to extend the life of your chosen flag. Find out more about the recommended lifespan of flags in our guide here.

For those switching to sustainable options, many more customers are now selecting our eco-friendly flag material-  Harrison Eco™ Flag– made from single-use PET plastic bottles and industrial polyester waste that would otherwise end up in landfill.

Step 3: Find your perfect location

While the most appealing option may be to install your flagpoles outside your site entrance, there are many more factors to consider. Firstly, safety and access need to be assessed – for example, there may be ground or overhead cables in the way. All flagpoles require some degree of digging to cement the ground sleeve in place, so our installation team can guide you on the safest locations during their initial site survey if you are unsure

You may also need to secure planning permission. Permanent flagpoles are considered advertisements under the Town and Country Planning Act 1990, so it’s important to speak to your local council first.

Step 4: Arrange installation and maintenance

The final step involves liaising with any third parties, such as other construction contractors, to get your project completed on time.
