Yorkshire County Flag

The Yorkshire County Flag features a white double heraldic rose, with green sepals and a gold centre on a blue background. According to the College of Heralds, the heraldic rose can be used with a petal at the top or with a sepal at the top. In Yorkshire there is a tradition of using the rose with a petal at the top in the North Riding and the West Riding but with a sepal at the top in the East Riding. The Yorkshire flag with its famous white rose, also known as the “rose alba” or “rose argent” was originally the symbol of the House of York and is believed to have originated in the 14th century. Yorkshire County flags are an important part of the Yorkshire Day celebrations which commemorate the battle of Minden on 1st August 1759. Reports of the battle mention that the British Soldiers picked roses and wore them on their uniforms, possibly in memory of their fallen comrades. News was in black and white in those days so the colour of the roses is not known. The current style was registered in 2008 if you would prefer to fly the old version please get in touch for a quote. Digitally printed or hand sewn and finished with a rope and toggle our British County flags are singled sided and can be used indoors or outdoors.

Our digitally printed flags are printed onto quality polyester material or the environmentally friendly flag material  which is made from recycled plastic. If you want that extra touch of quality or a longer lasting solution, we would recommend our hand sewn option. The hand crafted flags are produced using woven polyester with knitted polyester layering by our skilled in-house sewing team in Darlington, North East England. The experienced team meticulously appliqué the flags the exact County design.

We have a wide range of County flags if the flag you are looking for isn’t available on our website please call us on 01325 390 195 or email us for a quote.
