From 17th to 23rd October 2022, businesses around the UK will be getting behind the annual Recycle Week campaign.

The campaign is operated by environmental charity WRAP (Waste Resources Action Programme) to turn a spotlight onto recycling and the environment.

This year the theme is “Get Real” and the organisers hope to educate and inspire people to improve recycling by debunking myths such as ‘wishcycling’ – where people place items in recycling bins in the hope it will be able to be recycled, despite the fact it may be contaminating other eligible items instead.

A more sustainable future

Since the COP26 meeting in Glasgow at the end of 2021, a spotlight has been turned on environmental issues. People have been more concerned with the impact they are having on the environment in their day-to-day life. They’re looking to use more eco-friendly and eco-conscious companies. Equally, businesses are starting to actively seek out suppliers with sustainable green values. Those looking to find out more about the commercial benefits of going green can do so in our blog post here.

So, is it possible to market your business in a sustainable way? YES!

All about Harrison Eco™

Harrison Flagpoles like to be market leaders in innovative processes and solutions. So it’s not surprising that we led the way for environmentally friendly flag solutions, launching the Harrison Eco™ range in 2018. Durable eco-friendly materials for flags, feather flags and printed displays make up our expanded range today.

Harrison Eco™ Flag

Our innovative material is made from recycled plastic items. This includes single-use PET plastic bottles and industrial polyester waste that would otherwise be sent to landfill. The plastic is firstly processed into a yarn and then formed into our material, Harrison Eco™.

Harrison Eco™ has the same durability, strength and versatility as its knitted polyester equivalent. However it has a much lower environmental impact, creating 75% less CO₂ emissions than virgin polyester in production.

It also meets the requirements for the OEKO-TEX® 100 standards and is free from toxic elements.

Because of the components used in making Harrison Eco™ flags, they are fully recyclable once they are worn and in need of replacement. Read on to find out more about our Fabric Upcycling Scheme.

Fabric Upcycling Scheme

In a UK-first, Harrison Flagpoles also have a fabric upcycling scheme, allowing you to return used flags to the business. We then upcycle the material and use it to create new products such as shopping bags and tote bags.

We even create dog toys, which we then donate to a local dog re-homing charity, Floof.

Harrison Eco™ Flag Choice

You can make the eco-friendly choice on any of our Home Nations, World, County, Pride and feather flags.

Simply select “Harrison Eco™ flag” in the Print Option dropdown when ordering your flag.
